MEXICO

In Yucatan state in Mexico, MLI set up “Programa de Salud Familiar Integral,” which provided education for women and couples in the bead system of fertility awareness and the importance of breast feeding.  In addition, the program provided folic acid and iron supplements to reduce the incidence of neural tube defects and to decrease anemia in women.

This program is now in Mexican hands. Given our commitments in Africa, MLI is not able to support Programa elsewhere at this time.  We hope in the course of next year to partner with others to translate our updated materials into Spanish and to reinvigorate “Programa de Salud Familiar Integral” for Latin and South America countries.
